Matt Murray B.S, M.A.
This will be my second year at Avalon. I am currently teaching Physical Education to K-9 and serve as the Athletic Director.
I grew up in the U.S. and have lived in Maryland, Texas, and Washington. I got my B.S. in Physical Education from Southwestern Adventist University where I also met my wife, and grade 5-6 teacher, Taylor Murray.
I have completed my Masters degree in Sport and Athletic Administration from Gonzaga University. Where I also had the opportunity to teach Physical Education classes at the university and work with the men’s basketball team. God has led me down a path of teaching and coaching, and it is my biggest passion. I have worked with groups aging from kindergarteners all of the way to professional athletes. Prior to me moving to Port Hardy I was working as a sports director, in Walla Walla Washington, planning and running; classes, events, leagues, clinics, and workouts for the greater Walla Walla area. I have coached basketball for the past 10 years, and have been blessed to be involved with some of the top high school, college teams and basketball camps in the United States. My goal is to use my talents to bring more opportunities to our students and this school. I am so excited to be here and to have the chance to impact kids in a positive way. When I am not teaching I love hanging out with my wife, our cat (Kevin), our dog (Howard), and exploring this area.
Jeremiah 29:11New International Version (NIV)
